Days 31-32: Vladivostok to Versach, to Khabarovsk: 748km 17 hours 13°-23°

The Redhead is waiting in the car park. We are waiting in vain  for the fog to clear a bit.

After some shenanigans with the GPS, one way traffic and gloom we found our way to the bridge which leads north.

We stop for petrol and their in front of us was a bike with Lenus who is on an adventure rtw. We agree to ride together for a bit.

On the way we spot Keiichi but not in a place where we could stop,

Lunch bread based toad in the hole.
I won’t describe the toilet.

But the peonies along the way to it were gorgeous.

Vast filled fields.

Rain ahead, lightning and thunder too.

Lenus spots this roadside hotel.
We arrive in sunshine and in minutes there was a deluge.

Dinner sizzling on a platter. Lots of vegetables - aubergine, tomatoes, capsicu,, onion, potato and grilled pork.

We are on our way to Khabarosvk. I posted some pics on Facebook and Dick has described the ride in his blog.

Our first call was the Khabarosvk Fine Art Museum with Russian and European work.
We were welcomed to the gallery by Helena whose daughter lives on the North Shore in Auckland. Her Kathmandu jacket was the giveaway of a connection with New Zealand. We made her a member of Team kiwi.

Rubens was in the wall.

Here are some photos of our rest day. Our first wedding...

There is a wonderful promenade along the river with people walking, biking, skating, rollerblading and riding on the fairground rides. We went on the big wheel.

There was a fabulous textile exhibition at the Khabarosvk Museum. A collection of hand crafted rugs which were made in honour of the presidents and famous people.
It was an excellent Museum with historical, archeological and biological displays.

Valentina Tereshkova - the first female astronaut.

Khabarosvk was centre of the region for the gulags. The museum included information about the gulags - including this map.

Post Glasnost.
We will be riding in some of the new countries that were formed when the USSR split.

A walk along the river followed by dinner at Satsivi restaurant which served Georgian food.
