Day 30: Vladivostok

A special day in Vladivostok.
My brain is filled
So is my belly.

Founded in the 1850’s
Vladivostok has some gracious buildings
And streetscapes with sculptures

We visit the history museum
It’s special textile exhibition
Reminds me of Ruth

Children on a school visit to the museum
And their teachers
are working hard

We find the Pacific Fleet museum
1904-5 and WW11.
A counterpoint for us

We walk and walk
Fuel up on real coffee
And some little babas

And walk some more for
A memorable dinner
Fresh Kamchatka crab the star.

Vladivostok has revealed
her remarkable self in sunshine
Today.

Her glory revealed in sunshine

The Main Street.  Grand buildings. Cars parked how they please.

This region included parts of Korea, Manchuria and Siberia for hundreds of years. It became part of the eastern division of Russia in the 1856.

Relaxing after their museum visit.

Someone is looking at you... whilst talking on the phone and filling a bag with hot babas.

Borscht. We like it which is a good thing because it is likely to become a regular lunch.
Beetroot (Hi Arthur), onion, stock and some meat.

Detail of a stained glass window at the museum.

A huge embroidered wall hanging featuring harvest production. The textiles of the 1920-30s on display featured images of production of some sort or another.

Mother Russia

The great crab feast at restaurant Nostalgie. Curated for us by lovely Una.
