Day 4 and 5: Koromiko to Turangi: 330km + ferry 9 hours, Turangi to Auckland 325km 5hours.

It’s an early start for the ferry
Navigating the fog is easier...
Than the interislander ferry vehicle check in.

It has moved
The signage confuses us
Both lanes are not open, just sayin’

Bike tied down, alongside
Some shiny Model A fords
that we saw on the west coast are on board

All is calm on the sea
Farewell Tory Channel
Hello Wellington

Wonderful reunion with Ken and Shirl
Our fellow team Kiwi members
Who rode the Americas with us

And friends from London
Who saw us off before our last long ride
Whose children are welcomed as Team Kiwi members

Low cloud all the way to Turangi
A slow trip up the desert road in the early evening
To Turangi

Next day on our way to Auckland.
We have the joy of meeting people along the Road
Tommo joined us at the Garden Cafe and Roger and Diane.

Off to Parnell
Where we sort our stuff and pack up the panniers
And Dick takes the redhead for a shampoo and shower

And delivers her to CycleSpot
Where she will get serviced and new tyres.
Ready for her flight to Narita on 6 May.

Henry Is there, so is faithful friend Mella.
Who took us from Alaska to Patagonia
And around Australia.

Mella needs someone to take her for a ride

Hi,

What a great trip, I look forward to following your adventures. I’m a kiwi living in Edinburgh. If you haven’t done so yet, I think you should head up this way and then further north to ride the NC500. The route takes in some of the best roads and scenery in Scotland and I would say some of the best in the world. When you get some downtime, look into the NC500, you might just extend your trip.

Anyway, safe travels and I’m looking forward to the updates.

Andrew
