Tussock lands in the Altiplano, Peru

The big skies and open country of the high altiplano between Puno and Arequipa remind us of our friends  in the Maniatoto, Central Otago, New Zealand.
Our appreciation of these scenes has been heightened by the work of Grahame Sydney.
and Gilbert van Reenen

It seems incredible that plants and people live at 15,000'.
The tussocks gave way to candelabra cactus and sage bushes at 11,500'.
Inca terraces are visible in the first scene.
