Oh, What a Day! Puerto Montt to Chaiten, Chile

We have been at sea today.
I love being at sea.
Today we had three ferry rides connecting the road sections of the Carretera Austral  from Puerto Montt with Chaiten in the south.

A lovely change in pace.

Peace.

Team Kiwi on board Cai Cai and cruising south.

Fishing scenes all around us. Fishing boats. Aquaculture farms all along the route.

Earlier this year we cruised overnight in Doubtful Sound New Zealand with Kerian and Stuart. We were reliving the trip today with similar scenes in Chile.
Beech forest down  to the sea.

Deep still waters.

 Mitre Peak?
There were 6 women and girls on board the remaining 40+ passengers were men. Some were heading off on fishing trips.

We rode 56 km of unpaved road to Chaiten.  The volcano was venting steam. The ash damage in 2008 was very evident on the mountain sides and in Chaiten.

Volcanic activity close to town.
A lovely close to a special day.
